Wedding Lighting at Caswell House
The immaculately restored medieval barns at Caswell House in Oxfordshire are the perfect location for a relaxed, romantic wedding day. We love working at such an exclusive venue, supplying lighting and decorative touches including fairy lights, paper lanterns and uplighting.
Shown here are some of our most popular services at Caswell House. Feel free to contact us to discuss ideas or to request a brochure with a full list of services.
The largest of the barns, Wenman's, has a series of beams along its length which are perfect for hanging a canopy of fairy lights overhead, running from the balcony at one end to the far wall at the other. The lights make a spectacular feature of the barn's ceiling and give a flattering, golden light to the entire room.
We have installed a permanent fairy light star canopy in the high ceiling of Bartlett's barn (the entrance / bar area). For extra sparkle, lights can be swagged along the balconies in both Wenman's and Barlett's barns.
Our lights are warm white in colour and are very bright to ensure the best impact during the day. With so many bright lights it's essential that they can be dimmed to create the right atmosphere during the evening entertainment, so we supply all canopies with an easy to use dimmer.
Some of our most popular fairy light designs are listed below:
- Widthways - an impressively sparkly canopy with lights running side-to-side across the width of the barn.
- Multi swag - parallel strands of lights in long swags along the length of the barn.
- Crossed strands - strands of lights form a series of crosses between the beams.
- Backdrop - strands dropped down the back wall of Wenman's barn as a backdrop to the ceremony or band / DJ.
Decorative touches such as paper lanterns, fabric drapes or bunting can be added to certain canopy styles. For example, add a row of lanterns or bunting to the beams between the crosses of a crossed strands canopy or add drapes at the high points of a multi swag canopy.
For a real wow factor in the evening, some of our lantern designs can be supplied with an optional, hidden disco mode for the evening. The lanterns are lit with warm white bulbs as normal during the day, then at the press of a button they begin changing colour to complement your band or DJ's lighting.
We have an enormous range of paper lantern colours available plus some gorgeous lace styles.
Some suggested lantern designs that work well at Caswell House are:
- Combined with crossed strand fairy lights - the lanterns sit between the crosses formed by the fairy lights.
- On their own, hung from the beams - lanterns are suspended from the beams and individually lit.
- Added to the bar area fairy lights - unlit lanterns hung directly on the fairy lights in the bar area.
LED uplighting is the most effective way of transforming the mood of the venue from day to night. The uplighters light up the textured stonework of the walls beautifully, either in a subtle warm white to complement the colour of fairy or festoon lights, or in a colour to match your scheme.
The lights are supplied with an easy to use touch screen controller so you can set the colour and brightness as required throughout your day. For example choose a simple static colour during the day and then switch to a synchronised, full room colour changing mode during the evening entertainment.
The effect is amazing and really changes the feel of the room from warm and inviting to party time at the touch of a button!
Our festoon lights use warm white LED bulbs on white wire and are connectable, which means we can join together as many sets as required to create a number of different designs.
As with our fairy lights, they are supplied with an easy to operate dimmer so they can be dimmed in the evening if required.
Popular festoon canopy designs include:
- Crossed strands - simple and stylish, festoons are hung to form a series of crosses along the length of the barn.
- Zig zag canopy - lights are hung in a side to side zig zag, forming a canopy over the barn.
The bulbs come in a variety of shapes, sizes and filament styles and are individually hung from the beams on varying length drops.
The bulbs are connected to powerful dimmers so that they can be bright for maximum impact during the day and then turned down to a gentle glow for the evening.
A custom designed monogram projected onto the floor at the entrance to Wenman's Barn makes a real statement and celebrates your marriage as your guests enter the barn for the wedding breakfast.
The illuminated monogram can be designed with a range of fonts and flourishes and can incorporate your initials, names, wedding date... in fact anything you can imagine!
Discreetly mounted above the beams, a mirror ball scatters moving points of light all around the barn for that classic disco effect while intelligent lighting effects move in time with the music, filling the room with ever-changing colours.
Each of the effects can be switched on/off independently to create just the right feel at any moment.
At Caswell House, drapes can be attached to the beams, either as a pair of curtain drops at the ends or as swagged drapes running across the beam and dropping to the floor at both ends.
We use wide, high quality flame-retardant voile for our drapes ensuring safety and a lush, luxurious look.
Bunting is a simple but effective way to add colour and texture as part of a cohesive décor scheme.
Designs suitable for Caswell House include adding a line of bunting to each of the beams in either Wenman's or Joslin's barns, or it can be combined with some styles of fairy light canopy for a really beautiful effect.
We have a range of different styles available:
- Hessian and lace.
- Classic white.
- Vintage floral.
- Polka dot.
