Which areas do you cover for wedding lighting and draping?
We predominantly supply our services in Oxfordshire and Berkshire.
Can the lighting be dimmed for the evening reception?
Yes. All overhead lighting canopies incorporate dimmable control systems to facilitate a precise mood shift from the wedding ceremony to the evening reception. This ensures the "day-to-evening" transition is managed effectively to change the atmosphere of the event.
At which venues is Oakwood Events a recommended supplier?
Official recommended or exclusive supplier status is held at several prestigious locations including Caswell House, Ufton Court, and Cogges Manor Farm. Specialist familiarity with the unique architecture of these heritage venues ensures a professional and seamless installation process.
Are your installations safe for listed and historic buildings?
Yes. We protect the buildings through the use of specialist, non-damaging temporary fixings and installation methods, many of which are custom made to suit the individual venue. The company is fully insured and possesses extensive experience working with the nuances of listed buildings.
How long does the installation process take?
The installation of bespoke lighting and fabric draping typically requires a duration of several hours. The exact timeframe varies based on the specific complexity and scale of the chosen design.
How does the day-to-evening transformation work?
We supply an easy to use controller that lets you set the right mood at any time of day. The controls vary based on the lighting booked, generally allowing you to dim overhead lighting canopies or backdrops, plus turn on / off a mirror ball or disco lights, for example.
Is disco and party lighting offered?
Yes. High-energy disco and party lighting is available for installation above the dancefloor. This helps set a clear transition from formal celebration to evening party, without the disruption of equipment being brought in and set up during the wedding.
Do you offer Edison bulbs and vintage lighting?
Yes. We offer bespoke Edison bulb canopies and clusters featuring various filament styles. These create a beautiful, warm vintage glow that adds a distinctive industrial-chic character to barn venues.
Can you provide fabric draping for barn interiors?
We use high-quality fabric drapes to soften the interior of barn spaces or to elegantly distract from less attractive features. Draping works beautifully alongside our lighting to create a more intimate and polished atmosphere.
Are the designs bespoke?
Our designs are fully bespoke to each venue, and the available options are presented in a venue-specific brochure. You can choose your desired combination of design elements to create the perfect look for your day.
When should wedding lighting be booked?
It is advisable to book as early as possible. While we try our best to accommodate late bookings, the best way to be sure of securing the lighting you want is to book it as soon as you've chosen your venue.
Can we make changes to our booking later?
We try to accommodate changes to bookings where possible, up to 4 weeks before the event date and subject to stock and timing limitations. However, it's best to settle on the design as early as possible to ensure the equipment and resources are allocated to your event.
Fairy lights vs. festoon lights: what’s the difference?
Fairy lights are small and delicate, creating a classic twinkle that works particularly well in overhead canopies. Festoon lights use larger, retro-style bulbs that create a more rustic, industrial look and are well suited to both indoor and outdoor spaces.
Can two different setups be booked for the day and evening?
Equipment is not normally swapped during an event due to tight venue turnaround times. Instead, bespoke installations are designed with dimmable technology to create two clear moods: bright enough to make an impact during daylight for the ceremony and / or wedding breakfast, then softer and more atmospheric for the evening party. For even more of a transition, consider using uplighting to create a soft, warm white glow during the day followed by a change of colour in the evening. All of this can be achieved at the touch of a button with our easy to use controller.
Will the lights provide enough light?
Light levels are very subjective so it's impossible to give a definite answer, but in general an overhead canopy alone will give enough light to see by. However, lighting canopies are mainly a decorative element so it's advisable to use the venue's existing lights as well, at least during the day, to give a fuller, brighter light. If light levels are a concern, consider using uplighting to subtly add more light to the space. Please speak to us if you have any specific light level requirements or concerns.
How much lighting should I book?
This depends on the size of the venue and the atmosphere required. We can help you identify the right balance between subtle accents and a full venue transformation. For many clients an overhead canopy is enough to give that wow factor. Adding a couple of additional touches really elevates the effect.
